Transforming Education in Sarawak: From Classrooms to Living Rooms

Sarawak’s Education Transformation

Education in Sarawak is undergoing a powerful shift. From rural schools to homes across the state, communities are embracing digital learning tools that build children’s 3M skills—reading, writing, and arithmetic. This change is driven by teachers, parents, and programmes that put children at the heart of learning.

It takes a village to raise a child – and it takes a village to support remedial students too. In Sarawak, schools, parents, and communities are coming together to help pupils on their journey to mastering 3M skills. With the use of digital tools and learning apps like Kayam School and Sekolah Enuma, pupils are now more motivated, more confident, and more eager to learn than ever before.

Kayam School and Sekolah Enuma in Action

One of the biggest catalysts is the Program Anak Kita (PAK), which introduces innovative apps such as Kayam School and Sekolah Enuma to schools in Sarawak. These tools:

  • Support children in mastering literacy and numeracy.
  • Provide interactive, engaging lessons anytime, anywhere.
  • Empower both teachers and parents with clear insights into student progress.

At SK Beladin in Betong, a quiet Primary 3 pupil used to struggle with reading even simple sentences. With encouragement from his teacher and support from his mother during after-school sessions, he began using the Kayam School app daily. Within weeks, his teacher noticed he was volunteering to read aloud in class — something he had never done before. His smile and confidence grew with every word. This small success, multiplied across many children, is what makes Program Anak Kita so impactful.

Excitement and enthusiasm filled the room! 🎉 Teachers from the Bintulu area wrapped up a 2-day Professional Development Workshop with a special Teacher’s Day celebration. The workshop was a meaningful space for educators to share their journey, insights, and impact from Program Anak Kita (PAK) Sarawak so far.

From Classrooms to Living Rooms

Learning is no longer confined to classrooms. Parents and communities now play an active role:

  • Teachers guide students with digital lessons.
  • Parents support children at home, reinforcing daily practice.
  • Communities celebrate and share success stories, creating motivation for others.

The results speak for themselves:

  • Hundreds of students have improved their reading and math scores.
  • Teachers report higher confidence in guiding students with technology.
  • Parents witness children becoming more independent learners.

Building a Future of Digital Learning

Sarawak’s education story is just beginning. With continued support from schools, communities, and partners, the state is setting a new standard for inclusive, technology-driven education.
